Coming here on an HIB visa..Is an international drivers license good enough to buy a car and auto-insurance for that car(while waiting to get the US local state licence)?

You’d think so, but my significan’t other found out the hard way that a state issued (TX) driver’s license was needed to buy insurance (but not the car).
